Aerial Silks are a type of performance in which an artist performs aerial acrobatics while hanging from a length specially woven lengths of fabric. Aerial silks were invented in 1995 by Andre Simard. He was hired by Cirque du Soleil to develop and research new acrobatic techniques. The performers use the silks for jaw dropping stunts and drops from the air. Aerial studios began in the early 2000’s, and now there are aerial studios all across America. The silks provide an amazing work out that gives the user a feeling of freedom, beauty, and strength.
